The cross
The Watermelon Zkittlez mother is a cut we hunted ourselves out of a pack of Dying Breed seeds in January 2019. She carries the candy fruit the Z family is known for, with the melon note that separates her from the rest of the line.
Gelato 33 is the dessert standard — sweet cream, tight cookie structure, heavy trichome coverage. Sherbinski crossed Sunset Sherbet to Thin Mint GSC and pulled the thirty-third plant out of that hunt.
Fruit over cream is a combination that tests well and photographs well, which matters more in a crowded case than most growers like to admit. Gelato 33 gives the fruit side the density it needs to hold up commercially.
What to look for in Watermelon Zkittlez x Gelato 33 seeds
- Melon is the trait to protect. It fades easily in crosses, so cull anything that reads as generic candy.
- Gelato 33 contributes structure and frost. Keepers carry both without going airy.
- Cure changes fruit terpenes more than gas terpenes. Test-dry before choosing a mother.
- Color can show on the Zkittlez side in cooler rooms. Treat it as a bonus, not a selection criterion.
