The genetics, stated correctly

Most RS11 listings read “Pink Guava × OZK.” That is a plant crossed with its own parent line. Pink Guava is a phenotype selected out of the OZ Kush project — it is not a separate cultivar that was then bred to OZ Kush.

Deo Farms crossed that Pink Guava selection to Sunset Sherbert, which is where the name comes from: RS is Rainbow Sherbert, and 11 is the selection number off the run. If a supplier cannot tell you that much about a numbered cut, it is worth asking what else they are guessing at.

Why the cut matters

RS11 spread through California faster than any record of where the cuttings came from. It is a numbered selection out of a limited release, so the only thing separating a real RS11 from a mislabeled Sherbert cross is the chain of hands it traveled through. There is no pack you can pop to check it against.

We run RS11 to harvest in our R&D before we sell a cutting of it. Finish window, structure, how it colors — verified in flower here, not taken on trust from whoever passed it along.

Why growers run it

  • Color is the product. RS11's shelf value is the purple expression, and that is environmental rather than automatic — finish it warm and you get a good-smoking plant that looks like everything else on the menu. Drop night temps through the last three weeks and it earns its price.
  • Name recognition on a dispensary shelf. RS11 moves without a budtender having to explain it.
  • Nine to ten weeks is a long flower and we will not pretend otherwise. The return is in the per-pound, not the number of turns — plan the room accordingly.
  • Medium veg and a medium/tall stretch, so it fills a canopy without an extra week under 18s.
